Subject:Challenge #13: The Return of Sirus Challenge
Security:Public

Those fangirls will never let the poor man rest in peace. Whether it's to be their character's twoo wuv or because they thought it was a colossal mistake, Sirius is SOOOO NOT DED!!!1!!twelve!! So, your challenge for this week: resurrect Sirius in some way that would be canonically plausible and does not involve a Deus Ex Machina.

What you must use: (5 points)
-Sirius comes back somehow. Can be either temporary or permanent.
-Does not involve really lame Deus Ex Machina. Slight DEM allowed, if necessary.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Involves dark magic of some kind.
-Mentions of zombies or the undead.
-Destroy some fanon!

Subject:Challenge #12: The Diary Challenge
Security:Public

Sorry for the radio silence - I had a paper to write last weekend, so I was writing like a very desperate thing.

A "diary" story is where a character keeps a journal about their life a la Princess Mia or Georgia Nicholson, where they talk about their feelings, their friends, and their enemies. Generally involves some kind of shippiness, usually involving Draco Malfoy in the HP fandom.

What you must use: (5 points)
-A character from your fandom keeps a diary.
-They write about things that are in-character.
-It refers to canonical events from the past.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Destroy some fanon!
-And something. I'm out of ideas. Make up some of your own, or something.

-Aforementioned character is not a Mary-Sue.
-The character learns something about British customs/culture.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Destroy some fanon!
-Homesickness!
-Not in a "trendy" house, or actually displays their house traits.

Subject:Challenge #10: The Next Generation Challenge!
Security:Public

This challenge is brought to you by all the Harry/Hermione/Ron/Draco clones that appear in next-generation story. However, this challenge is for any fandom - it only needs to be the "next generation" of the world (for example: the children of the Hogwarts gang, or the students at Hogwarts ten years down the line).

What you must use: (5 points)
-The story must involve a "next generation" of one of your fandoms.
-The "next generation" may not be ickle clones of the first generation.
-Show how things have changed since the first generation.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Destroy some fanon!
-Use at least one unconventional pairing.

Subject:Challenge #9: Legolas Meets House Elf Challenge
Security:Public

Not a single entry for the last two? C'mon, people. Please?

This one is an idea I got from a fic that someone suggested on deleterius awhile ago - Legolas becomes a House-Elf, apparently. Well, I'm not going to go there, but what if he met one? (Can't find the original link. Oh well.)

What you must use: (5 points)
-Legolas has a plausible reason for meeting a house-elf.
-There is at least some mention of Dobby, if he's not in the story himself.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Destroy some fanon!
-Mention some other legends of house-cleaning spirits/creatures.

Subject:Challenge #8: The Good Orc Challenge
Security:Public
Mood: devious

Thank you to ariyanaforever for this suggestion. This week, you are going to write about an Orc that is not evil yay. This challenge is brought to you by this story, about a nice little Orc girl named - of all things - Violet.

What you must use: (5 points)
-The story is centered around a Orc who is not evil/good (for a given value)
-Said orc has a run-in with a canon character.
-There is a logical explanation for why this Orc is not evil like every other orc.

Dares: (1 point each)
-There's a reference to violets somewhere in the story.
-Mention Melkor/Morgoth and how Orcs came about.
-Destroy some fanon!

Subject:Challenge #7: Legomance!
Security:Public

After two weeks of wondering why no one was responding to my Holiday challenge, I finally realized: I'd posted it to my personal LJ. So, here we go, new challenge, forget that happened yay. It's time for the challenge of infamy in the LotR fandom: the Legomance.

What you must use: (5 points)
-Legolas is in character, and the other character is allowed to exist.
-You mention the cool creepy spiders in Mirkwood. They deserve some love.
-It can be either resolved or unresolved at the end, given that most people write one-shots. It also can be set at any time - eg, before the ring quest, after the war, whatever.

Dares: (1 point each)
-Dispel a common bit of fanon for the canon.
-Let Legolas sing a bit.
-Thranduil figures into it, and is presented as an okay person.

Subject:Challenge #6: Evil!Ginny
Security:Public

Sorry the new challenge is so late, but I was having trouble thinking one up. But then I remembered this little gem from Deleterius. Remember that story where Ginny was really evil and controlled the Sorting Hat and makes Hermione her and Draco's sex slave? Yeah, that fic?

What you must use (5 points):
-Ginny is evil.
-There is a plausible explanation for Ginny being evil.

Dares (1 point each):
-Someone disproves/dispels a common bit of fanon for your fandom.
-Black leather outfits are discussed.
-Include Pansy in the story.
-Someone has a conversation with the sorting hat.

Also, you have until next Monday to do this one, as I got it up late.

Subject:Challenge #5 - "Falls into _____"
Security:Public
Mood: devious

All right, people. It's time for the mother of all challenges: the "falls into _____" story. You can adapt this to any fandom you like, although the best examples are found in the Lord of the Rings fandom and occasionally the Harry Potter fandom.

What you must use (5 points):
-An original character or a character from another fandom (crossover time!) "falls" or is transported into your fandom of choice. There can be more than one character crossing over.
-Someone comments on the character's strange clothing/dress/hair/junk.
-There must be a semi-plausible explanation for the crossing over.

Dares (1 point each):
-Someone disproves/dispels a common bit of fanon for your fandom.
-The character(s) arrive at a different time or place than the main canon characters would be (eg, Valinor, Florean Fortescue's, etc.)
-There are language barriers.
-Someone thinks that the character is a complete nutcase and tries to escort them to the local police or local equivalent.

Subject:Challenge #4: The Stalker Challenge
Security:Public

Requested by someone I don't have the LJ name for *sweatdrop* Original Badfic - a canon character is being stalked and/or having their life threatened, and their friends must find out who and stop them! Preferred in the Digimon Frontier fandom (as per request), but any fandom is fine.

What you must use (5 points):
-A canon character is being stalked/having life threatened/etcetera.
-They and their friends must try and find out who it is.

Dares (1 point each):
-Someone disproves/dispels a common bit of fanon for your fandom.
-Includes a pairing of some sort.
-There is a flashback.
-There is slappage. I don't care who.

And plugging my fic again. Tee hee. It's not that good, but wait until you see who the love-interest is...

And points for the last couple challenges will be up soon. I swear. I'm just trying to break 20,000 for NaNo and it's getting in the way.

Subject:Challenge #3: The Original Character Challenge
Security:Public

All right. Last week's turnout wasn't so good, but we did get one fic from supersaiyaginny, so that's good. Stories can still be turned in today, if you can write quickly or are almost done.

That said, it's time for a very special, all-fandom challenge: The Original Character Challenge. You've seen them EVERYWHERE - there's some in nearly every fanfiction archive on the whole internet, and as per Sturgeon's law, 90% are crap. Time to lower that ratio, people.

What you must use (5 points):
-An original character plays a pronounced/main role in the story.
-The character is related to/going to school with/working with/etc. any canon character who is also a main character.
-The character is not a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu.

Dares (1 point each):
-The canon character used is not a common lust-object.
-The current popular music of the time is mentioned.
-Someone disproves/dispels a common bit of fanon for your fandom.
-Give me some more, I'm having trouble thinking of some. You'll get an extra point if you do.

Also, is anyone familiar with both Discworld and the Hitchhiker's Guide series? I've got a suggestion for the #5 challenge, you see...

Subject:Challenge #2: Boromir the Hunter/King
Security:Public

By special request of b2wm. Original "story" can be found here. Brain. Hurts. Galadriel and Celeborn no longer in love! Mary-Sues a-plenty! And the phrase, "gods’ testicles!"

What you must use (5 points):
-Boromir must survive Amon Hen and run with the three hunters.
-Aragorn becomes separated and/or captured and/or killed.

Dares (1 point each):
-Someone talks about a pierced body part.
-There is a positive light on at least one of the orcs.

And since I am mod, I get to plug my entry for last week here. Now get writing!

Challenge #1: Voldemort Wins.

This goes out to everyone at deleterius who suffered through this. I thought it would make a good first challenge, since that story was actually what inspired the whole thing.

What you must use (5 points):
-Voldemort has won. The world (or at least the parts the Death Eaters have taken over) is under the control of Voldemort and his followers.
-Harry Potter is dead.
-Hermione is a prominent, if not main character.

Dares (1 point for each):
-There is a character who is knitting. A lot.
-Lavender Brown and/or Hannah Abbott is/are in the story.

Stories are due by November 14th. Remember, all you need is a one or more chapters in which the themes above are recognizable, anywhere on the internet.
